Education
• Integrated M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (specialty towards biotechnology), Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Patras, Greece

Biography

I hold an integrated master’s degree in chemical engineering with a specialty towards biotechnology from University of Patras. My research focuses on biotechnology with a particular interest towards biopharmaceutical applications. At NIBRT as a PhD student from March 2025 and I will be working on cellular therapy for cancer in the project “Metabolism-Driven Precision Biomanufacturing of Cellular Therapeutics” which will be in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin.

During my Master Thesis, I have contributed significantly to the intercellular production of bioplastics from cyanobacteria in anaerobic sludge medium which has derived from agricultural anaerobic digestion waste. After that, I conducted my internship in Copenhagen, where I worked for the creation of more efficient detergents with less chemicals by using enzyme variants for removing fatty organic acids which are usually found in common food sources. Finally, I am currently running molecular dynamics simulations for a peptide/protein (chignolin) and for specific mutations that have been conducted at the biocomputational space for noticing alternations in protein structure and for calculating the frequency of transition between the states of each variant/mutant.

Research Interests

• Biopharmaceutical applications

• Biotechnology

• Genetic engineering

Awards and Honors

Received the degree with Honors and graduated on top of the graduation class, April 2024

Personal Interests

Outside of work, I really like cooking because it allows me to travel to different places from the comfort of my house. Same goes for reading books. I love interacting with people and having valuable discussions as I appreciate good interactions. Finally, I like trips and exploring the world because I consider that by gaining view on different perspectives, we become richer.
