Biography

I was born and raised in West Bengal where I studied my bachelor's in Pharmaceutical Technology at Calcutta Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, MAKAUT. Later I moved to Pune for my master's in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology where I worked on immunomodulatory properties of natural polyphenols to alleviate the cytokine storm caused by COVID-19 at the laboratory of Prof. Harsulkar at Poona College of Pharmacy, BVDU. After my master’s I joined Enzene Biosciences Ltd as a Research Associate for more than 2 years where I extensively worked on CHO cell lines, single-cell cloning, upstream process development, and analytical process development. This experience gave me an inside view of industries where I realized that there are scope for improvements in current industrial processes and well-defined easy-to-apply scalable solutions are needed to further improve the safety and quality of the therapies available in the market. To make this a reality, I recently joined Prof. Mantalaris and Prof. Panoskaltis’s laboratory in NIBRT, TCD where I’ll be working on the biomanufacturing of cell therapies to solving the safety and quality challenges with the aim of reducing the heterogeneity of current therapies.

I always believe in the mantra “follow your passion” and I am lucky enough to turn my passion into my profession. My interest in biotechnology mainly emerged from the fact that everything is already present in the nature, and it is just waiting to be discovered, that’s why it is called ‘re-search’!

• Received "Chancellor's Gold medal" from Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University for being the top performer across all master's programs in pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Biotechnology) (2023).

• Received Scholarship from Govt. of India for qualifying national level exam GPAT (Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test, 2020).

Teaching and Mentorship

I enjoy teaching and mentoring the next generation of scientists. During my master’s, I supervised junior batches in theory and experiments. At Enzene, I supervised several undergraduate interns and trainees in lab work and assisted them with project design and thesis writing.

Personal Interests

When I am not doing science, I like to go on rides, hike heights, hit the waves, cook my favourite foods or open up gadgets to study them for fun! I know I know I am a nerd.
